Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about FlexCare's disability supports, NDIS funding and getting started.

General

Anyone with an active NDIS plan that includes Core or Capacity Building supports relevant to our services is welcome to reach out. We also support participants with psychosocial disability funded through the NDIS. We'll review your plan together during a free consultation to confirm fit.

We primarily service the greater Perth metro area, including northern and southern suburbs. Select regional WA coverage may also be available. Contact us to confirm support availability in your location.

Yes. Every FlexCare support worker holds a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, a National Police Clearance, and first aid certification. Workers also complete ongoing training in disability support practice, manual handling, safeguarding, and trauma-informed care.

Yes. FlexCare Support Australia is a fully registered NDIS provider and meets all quality and safeguarding standards set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. This means we can deliver supports to participants who are NDIA-managed, plan-managed or self-managed.

Supports

Absolutely. We carefully match you with a worker based on your goals, personality, communication style and support needs. You're always welcome to request a change if the match isn't right — no questions asked.

We support participants with personal hygiene and grooming, meal preparation, household tasks, medication prompting, mobility assistance, overnight and sleepover supports. All personal care is delivered with dignity, privacy and respect at the centre.

Yes. We provide support workers who accompany participants to social activities, appointments, shopping and recreational programs, and can assist with transport arrangements. Community access is a core part of what we deliver.

Yes. Our capacity building supports include budgeting and money skills, cooking, public transport training, digital literacy, self-advocacy and employment readiness — all tailored to each participant's goals and current skill level.

NDIS & Funding

Yes. We work with NDIA-managed (agency-managed), plan-managed and self-managed participants. We tailor our invoicing and reporting to match your plan management arrangement so there's no extra admin burden on you.

During your free consultation, we'll walk through your NDIS plan together and explain exactly what's available in each budget category — Core Supports, Capacity Building and Capital — and how our services align with your funded goals.

Yes. We provide detailed progress notes and support reports that document the goals you've worked toward and the outcomes you've achieved. These can be used to support your NDIS plan review and help you advocate for the right level of funding.

No. Our services are billed directly to your NDIS plan at NDIS Price Guide rates. There are no hidden fees or out-of-pocket costs for supports delivered under your plan. Everything is set out clearly in your service agreement before support begins.

Psychosocial Support

Psychosocial disability support is for participants whose primary disability is a mental health condition — such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, PTSD or anxiety disorders — that significantly impacts their daily functioning. The NDIS recognises psychosocial disability and can fund supports to improve daily living, social participation and independence.

FlexCare provides non-clinical disability support — practical, day-to-day assistance such as routine building, community access and life skills. We complement clinical mental health services (psychiatrists, psychologists, community mental health teams) and work alongside your existing treatment team rather than replacing it.

Yes. Workers delivering psychosocial supports complete specific training in trauma-informed practice, recovery-oriented approaches, mental health first aid and de-escalation. We carefully match participants with workers who have relevant experience and the right interpersonal approach.

Absolutely. Collaboration is central to how we work. We actively communicate with your support coordinator, GP, psychiatrist and allied health team to ensure supports are joined up, consistent and working toward your recovery goals.

Getting Started

Simply call us on 0416 795 741, email flexcare04@gmail.com, or fill in the contact form on our website. We'll arrange a free, no-obligation consultation — either in person, by phone or via video call — to talk through your situation and how we can help.

We'll have a relaxed, unhurried conversation about your goals and daily life, walk through your NDIS plan together, and explain what support could look like — including which workers might be a good match for you. There's no obligation to proceed and no paperwork on the day.

Most participants are matched with a support worker and commence their first session within 1–2 weeks of their initial consultation, depending on the complexity of supports and worker availability in your area.

Yes. Sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled with reasonable notice, as outlined in your service agreement. We understand that plans change — just contact your support worker or our office directly and we'll sort it out.

The relationship between a participant and their support worker is really important. If the match isn't working for any reason, just let us know and we'll arrange an alternative — no awkward conversations required. Getting the right fit is part of our job.
